Level I - Skate Courses:
Typical course consists of four 1-1/2 hour classes that take place on Saturday mornings. This course is by far our most popular and can produce amazing results for the beginner skater. Beginning with how to check the skateboard for safety and how to use the pads, this course teaches skaters important fundamentals including; how to fall safely in the skatepark environment, proper foot placement, how to push, turn and stop. The course leads to teaching carving techniques, rolling into transitions, pumping (a method of producing momentum without having to push with feet), and balance. A complete beginner skater may repeat this course in order to perfect the fundementals before moving to Level II.
Week-Long Level I Clinics:
Clinics are typically 1 week long (M-F seasonal, usually during school vacation weeks) and consist of five 2 hour classes. Level I clinics cover the same fundamental skills as our Level I skate courses, but allow more time for students to perfect skills.
Level II - Skate Courses:
Typical course consists of four 1 1/2 hour classes that take place on Saturday mornings. Level II course is designed for the advanced beginner skatepark skater. This course is more focused on each individual skater's skill level. Exercises for perfecting pumping (a method of producing momentum without having to push with feet), dropping in, rock and rolls, drops, grinds, and slides are part of the regular curriculum for this course. Advanced techniques for airs, spins, boardslides and curb tricks are introduced as the class advances in skill level. Because of the format of the Level II course, skaters are invited to participate in it as often as desired. CBL has had participants who complete this course 8 times, advancing in skill level each time.
Week-Long Level II Clinics:
Clinics are typically 1 week long (M-F seasonal, usually during school vacation weeks) and consist of five 2 hour classes. Level II clinics cover the same fundamental skills as our Level II skate courses, but allow more time for students to perfect skills.
Semi-Private Lessons:
We offer a limited option of semi-private and private skate lessons. Semi-private lessons are 1 1/2 hours of instruction and consist of 3-5 students of matched skill sets. Private lessons are available all year and can accommodate home school students (meets physical education requirements).
